IComm partners with Acano to deliver truly unified communications

By: James Frost, Collaboration Architect, ICOMM

IComm is very excited to announce a new partnership with Acano Ltd, whom offer an innovative audio, video and web collaboration platform. Founded in 2012, Acano is a global company offering a fresh perspective on collaboration technologies and making teams work better together.

The Acano solution offers best in class integration to the Microsoft Lync, Skype/Skype for Business/Office 365 ecosystem as well standard based platforms like Cisco and Polycom environments. Acano solves the complex interoperability problem by ensuring businesses have the best solution to enable staff and customers to communicate from any device, anywhere, anytime.

Acano’s unique technology makes it the only platform that seamlessly integrates traditional video endpoints with Skype for Business (Lync). Acano’s dual homed conferencing allows businesses using Skype for Business (Lync) to communicate with people within and outside their organisation using H.323 or SIP based video systems without experiencing layout changes or reduced functionality. The Acano solution preserves native Microsoft Skype for Business workflow, ensuring users don’t have to learn new ways of scheduling and joining meetings, and providing the best possible collaboration experience for all users regardless of technology.

Acano’s solution enables businesses to share content via traditional video systems to participants inside and outside the organisation. Bi-directional content sharing support enables Microsoft Skype for Business users to share native RDP content with SIP/H.323 endpoints and vice versa, preserving the content streams and end user experience.  When making a point-to-point Skype for Business (Lync) call, employees can easily drag and drop traditional endpoints or conference rooms into the call for a multi-person conference.

The solution can be deployed as a Virtual Machine or on Acano optimised servers, providing support for both small and large deployments with unlimited capacity to scale as required.

Cisco has recently announced their intention to purchase Acano for $700 million USD. This is a tremendous vote of confidence in the Acano organisation and staff, and their technology stack. Interoperability between disparate technology silos is a complex challenge, and Cisco’s acquisition recognises the value of the Acano solution, and the strength of the Microsoft integration.

IComm look forward to working with our customers during this exciting time, empowering them through Acano to realise the full potential of their different collaboration solutions.
