Polycom's First-Ever ANZ Partner Summit - ASCEND 2018

Last week, 11 of our team traveled from Melbourne to sunny Broadbeach on the Gold Coast to attend Polycom's first ever ANZ Partner Summit, Polycom ASCEND 2018.  We've attended Polycom events in the past, but this one was special - being the first Partner event in Aus, AND the first major event held in Aus since two of our core partners merged, and Polycom became part of Plantronics, roughly 2 months ago.

We are an integrator, and our business is sourcing and deploying the BEST SOLUTION FOR OUR CUSTOMER, no matter what.  Polycom fits into that how?  They are BEST IN CLASS, hands down.  This is why we, as an organisation, delved into the world of Polycom less than 4 years ago.  And was that decision ever cemented last week.

Gala Awards Dinner and Dance at the Palazzo Versace

Polycom put on an amazing conference, that I'll do another post on shortly, but the end of the conference culminated in a Gala Awards Dinner and Dance on the Wednesday night.

6:30 pm shuttles picked up the conference attendees (dressed in all our finery!) from the Sofitel in Broadbeach (where the conference was held), to the evening's venue, the La Medusa Ballroom at Palazzo Versace.  Wow.  Versace-designed carpet and tiles?  It was gorgeous.  Networking drinks and canapes in the lobby until they let us into the room so we could find our tables.

First off, let me say this.  During the conference, and at the Gala, Polycom spared no expense.  Dinner was positively amazing, a 3-course meal, and the live entertainment was fantastic.  As a team, we weren't sitting all together, but spread out over roughly 5 tables to enable us to get to know other partners from around Australia and New Zealand, as well as Polycom Engineers, Leads and Managers from the ANZ, APAC and Global teams. Once dinner was served, they presented the awards.

Honoured Beyond Measure by Selection for This Award

We weren't expecting an award, but we came up with one, and wow, what an honour!  We don't do this work to get awards, we do it to help organisations be more effective and efficient in how they make a difference in the world.  We have some REALLY amazing clients, and they do GREAT work.  Seeing how our solutions, once deployed, help them do that work?  That's just the best.  But getting this recognition from Polycom really means a great deal to us.  It's validating that one of our core partners that we've chosen to work with in deploying these solutions recognises that we fully believe in what they give our clients.

What is The "Centre of Excellence" Award?

The award that we received, "Centre of Excellence," was given to us because of our second-to-none demo facilities in our offices in North Melbourne. In addition to that, our quality and excellence in solutions deployed to clients were also a factor.

Being new to the business, it's safe to say that I'm spoiled - our set up is, for lack of a better word, excellent, and we're very lucky to have such a great range of devices for clients to "try before they buy."  In case you've never been, we have 6 demo rooms varying in size from small huddle space to large boardroom, with various different endpoints and customisations of endpoint integrations within the Microsoft Modern Workplace space.  Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Surface Hub, and of course, Polycom endpoints like the Trio, Pano, Producer and Director, are all available, and more importantly, FUNCTIONAL, for you to come and experience the easy click-to-join experience that Polycom delivers.
