Microsoft Lync replaced existing Cisco Call Manager solution for all staff that were moving into Medibank’s new building. The new building was developed as part of Medibank’s “future way of working” project, known as Project Thrive.

Medibank had an ageing Cisco IP telephony solution that was providing staff with basic telephony features only. With the move to a new building and the requirement for staff to embrace a new way of working, Medibank needed a new unified communications solution that would provide not only voice features but a true collaborative experience for all staff. 


Medibank selected Microsoft Lync as their collaboration solution for their new Docklands Head Office.

The solution has allowed staff to work from anywhere and collaborate with colleagues and customers no matter where they are located. Traditional handsets have been replaced with a range of Lync certified devices (mainly headsets) and Medibank staff are using a range of new collaborative features, such as video conferencing and desktop sharing to communicate with other staff and customers alike.


Microsoft Lync has meant staff have been able to fully embrace Medibank’s new “future way of working” mantra. Medibank have been able to reduce their telephony support costs and eliminate all conferencing costs previously spent with a variety of third party suppliers.
